Ukranian veterinarian wins prestigious award

(16.02.2007) The Merial Gustav Rosenberger Memorial Prize was awarded to Dr Vitaliy Dubinskyy from Lviv, Ukraine

The award was presented by Dr Marie-Pascale Tiberghien of Merial and Dr Robert Back of the Gustav Rosenberger Memorial Foundation, on the occasion of the 24th World Buiatrics Congress (WBC) in Nice, France. Dr Dubinskyy will use the award for a postgraduate educational stay at the Hanover Veterinary School (Germany).

In Hanover, Dr Dubinskyy will train in conventional clinical examination, herd health management and special laboratory practice, under the guidance of Dr Martin Hölterschinken. Dr Dubinskyy said "This will be of great benefit for me as well as for Ukranian students at the Lviv Veterinary Faculty, who will also profit from my newly acquired skills and knowledge”.

Awarded every two years, the Merial Gustav Rosenberger Memorial Award takes the shape of a €12,500 grant presented by Merial to a young and promising veterinarian from a developing country, who has made an important contribution to research in bovine medicine. The grant may be used either for an educational stay in a Veterinary Institute or as a scholarship in the field of buiatrics research.

Vitaliy Dubinskyy follows in the steps of several other young veterinarians rewarded by Merial since 1996.
